My bpal Harvest Moon order arrived today. (How's that for timing!?!)
HARVEST MOON This Harvest Moon oil is a merging of autumnal scents from all over the globe: chrysanthemum, pomegranate, cane sugar and dusty wheat, sorghum, green tea leaf, rice flower and rice milk, Russian sage, bamboo shoot, elderberry, black cherry, wild plum, red haw, hazelnut, red apple and shagbark hickory. This smells like fall in a bottle to me - woody, dusty, wheaty, all mellow and dry, with a hint of hazelnuts and turning leaves. Really like it. Works really well, too, in a diffuser. I'm going to be working more with this scent.
HIGH PRIESTESS. She who sits enthroned between the pillars of light and darkness. Clarity, insight, stillness. Arcane and hidden knowledge. Mysteries. Very happy with this scent and looking forward to working with it - it's sharp, bright, powerful, energizing. Complex. Almond and cherry (and maybe pomegranate?), a hint of clove and licorice, and bitter herb, maybe pennyroyal?
I also got two Chakra oils.
AJNA: THE THIRD EYE The Meeting of Shiva and Shakti. The Two-Petaled Lotus: perception and command. The mind’s eye, intuition, truth found in dreams, imagination, vision, and light. Sharp and bright and high and blow-it-all-open. OMGS iif Third Eye is like this, what will Crown be like? Herbal licorice (fennel?) and maybe a hint of saffron. Just Wow!
MULADHARA: THE ROOT The Thunderbolt of Indra, The Hand of Brahma. The Four-Petaled Lotus. Security, stability, courage, manifestation, survival. Woah!! “Thunderbolt” is right. One sniff and you a GRRRounded, baby. Very deep complex scent – I’m getting patchouli and humus of the deep, dark forest floor. And vetiver. Stunning scent.
I decided to get these two particular scents because I figure that if these two didn't work on me, none of the others would. Needless to say, I'll be ordering the others. Now, to decide what one(s) to get next. (Probably Swadhisthana and/or Sahasrara. Choices, choices.)
And included in the order: my missing Dracul and Monsterbaits:
Oh, MONSTERBAITS, how I want to slurp you all up. CLOSET, you *do* smell like Red Velvet Cake, all cocoa buttercreamy goodness with just a small bourbony burp. UNDERBED, I want to roll in you -- cassia, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, caramel.... how could they get so much delicious richness in one tiny bottle?
I'm floating on a aroma-cloud. I'll post more comments when I come back to earth...
frimps:
La Belle Dame Sans Merci
Hecate

Ra
AL-SHAIRAN (Excolo) The enemy of God, also named Iblis, He Who Despaired of the Mercy of God. Al-Shairan is the leader of the Jinn, a tempter who whispers false suggestions to men enticing them into evil and perfidious acts, and is the sworn enemy of all of Adam’s children. His scent is fiery, bright and thick with sweet sinfulness: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes. Oooh, lovely.
NUIT (Excolo) Her perfume is starry and crystalline, a jewel-clad and glittering paean to night: dazzling white musks, white rose and night-blooming jasmine with the soft moss of moonlit meadows, a waft of Egyptian incense, and a gentle breath of moonflower. Maybe a titch too bright floral for me.
SANTA EULARIA DES RUI (Wanderlust) Piquant citrus tempered by jasmine, soft Mediterranean herbs, lavender and orange blossom Very nice.
IAGO (Illyria) Malevolent, dark and shadowy: sinuous black musk, wet leather and vetiver. Shiver. Really like this. Really.
added 8/10
As good a place as any to mention my thoughts on my other Tarot oil, The Sun, with which I immediately had to play compare and contrast .
THE SUN. Glory, triumph, truth, success. Happiness. Youthful energy. Clarity of the mind, insight from active intellect rather than from subconscious instinct or intuition. Warm, resiny, happy scent. The perfect summer day in a bottle. Reminds me of sunflowers and warm winds and lazy afternoons. Faintly flower, faintly fruity (hint of citrus?), all lovely.
