So I'm puttering about, doing boring house stuff and enjoying the cool breezes coming in, and suddenly the doggies go nuts. Then I hear it, the shattering scream of military jets overhead.

WTF?

But it's gone, and I don't think anything more of it. Maybe it wasn't jets - I was in the basement. Maybe it was that truckload of rocks up the street being offloaded. Then, a while later, it happens again. Repeatedly. And I'm thinking, why are there military jets flying over Toronto? OMGS, what's going on?! So I check the news site. Nothing. I'm sitting here, staring at the computer, trying to calm the doggies and myself. Not the way I wanted to start the long weekend...

... wait a minute... the long weekend. The Labour Day long weekend. In Toronto. Which means...

The CNE airshow.

Duh.

Now I feel like an paranoid idiot. Okay, so the show doesn't actually start til tomorrow, but I bet those are practice runs.

So still feeling idiotic. And yet happy. Very happy that I Iive in a place and in a country where hearing military jets means airshow, not patrol and not attack. The "sound of freedom" my ass. That sound is SCARY. Just ask the puppies. Dumb animals? Nah. Sensible, very, very sensible.
