Hurrah! My Chrysanthemum Moon order arrived! I'm a little sniffly and stuffy today (curse you, allergies!) so my notes will be short and appended later.
Chrysanthemum Moon
This is a complex and subtle scent -- I almost want to say creamy, but not really. Warm and round, soft spice and ginger. Lush but not overpowering, a hint of mums and musk and smoke admist the ginger. A warm golden flame in a deep red glass.
The Candy Butcher is amazing, all creamy chocolate and I'm getting an undertone of buttery caramel. I don't really get *dark* chocolate from it, probably because of the creamy notes, but yuuuuummmm. Love it! (Okay, must add: the darker cocoa comes out in the wearing. This one is like a deep, dark wine -- it needs to breathe!!)
As for Uruk let's just say that I'm very happy we sprung for the 10ml. And Jezirat is likely going to be a favourite, especially if it turns out to last on my skin.
Mme Moriarty, Misfortune Teller
Okay, I'm totally loving this scent. Muskiness that's warm - almost creamy, is it the vanilla? - but not overpowering; the vanilla adds a bit of sweetness and blends well with the patchouli, keeping it from being too deep. And intertwined, a spicy fruity pomegranate. I'm finding this to be sultry and mellow, a complex scent that keeps shifting between the musky sweetness and the sharper fruits.
I'm glad this one is going to be around for a while.
Tanin'Iver
Oooooooh. Sweet, spicy, smoky, dragonsblood. With cinnamon. I don't really get the floral notes that are supposed to be in here, but perhaps that's what giving this the sweetness -- it does seem much sweeter than some other db blends.
Glad this is in the general catalogue. We're going to want more.
