It's been a busy week so far. Monday B and I went out and tackled the yard work - it had been a fairly dryish weekend and Tuesday is yard-pickup, so the time seemed right. It was misting slightly when we started but the rain thankfully stayed away. Lots of raking and bagging - we got the front yard done, and the back patio/pen mostly done. Seven bags. And an enterprising gutter chap came by while we were doing that so for $30 he climbed all over the roof - he even did the upper gutter, which badly needed doing, and fixed one of the hanging nails. Money well spent! Got most of my terracotta pots into the garage for the winter, too.
I was expecting my back to be the source of any post-raking woes, but with a chiro appt Tuesday morning, I figured I could cope. But actually, it's my thumb. I not only created a nasty blister, I tore it open before realizing I even had it and now it's turned into a major owwy. Typing is a real pain. I've totally underestimated how many times I hit the space bar. Ow.
Yesterday, after chiro, I came home and got stuff ready and in the crockpot for stew, then went out for the afternoon with B to the ROM for a FTC ('Friends of Textiles and Costume') event. After the business meeting, there was a short lecture ('Fortuny to Memphis: 20th Century Italian Textiles & Fashion') by the senior T&C curator, Dr. Alexandra Palmer (who is a wonderful, fascinating woman) and then a curator tour of the 'Italian Arts & Design: The 20th Century" exhibit with Dr. Little (who has the obsessive care for detail you'd expect a curator to have, and was a hoot to follow around and listen to him happily ramble on and answer questions and provide many fascinating anecdotes about the collection).
All in all, a great day, sore thumb and all.
