Definitely time to do some catching up; may even end up backdating some stuff to keep it straight - we'll see.
Had a fun but very busy weekend, one that made me really appreciate my chiro appt this morning. Dr E wants to see me back next week, too. I really have to break this habit I have of standing when I don't have to -- too much time spent over bubbling pots of wax, but what's a witch to do? I'm really, really happy with how the candles turned out, not only the ones for Imbolc, but the others, too, and especially my monster 3+ pounder that I scented with fennel and dragonsblood. And despite my worries, no trouble at all unmolding it, either - it slipped out perfectly! I'm having to resist the urge to make a whole batch of huge pillars!
Yesterday I got out for a bit of a walk and spent a little time browsing in the library. I've been in the mood for some light reading lately, so grabbed a couple that should amuse. Books I've read recently that stand out (for whatever reason) include: The Virtu, sequel to Melusine - both books I need to eventually own, because I will reread them. I liked the sequel even more than the first, likely because one of the two POV characters wasn't insane through most of the book. The ending did seem rather rushed to me. Also read Poison Study and Magic Study that weren't nearly as good (or complex) but enjoyable. Also written in first-person perspective, competantly so, but generally less sophisticated and with far less characterization; both books reminded me greatly of YA novels, abeit the darker sorts.
Also just finished Dark Need, the third in a dark paranormal romance series about the Darkyn (read: one of the many vampires varients found in the genre) by Lynn Viehl. Vampire books are my guilty pleasure, and while romance books are normally not my thing at all, I will admit to being fond of some of the paranormal/cross genre books that have shown up in the last five years or so. I actually own these, and will be getting the next one, too. Pure escapism, dark and steamy.
